Three public education systems. One big decision for your family.

Andorran, French and Spanish: three free systems coexist in the country and any family can choose between them. It is something unique in Europe — and a decision best made with good information.

The question newly arrived families ask most

“And the children — which school will they go to?” It is the first question almost every family we support asks, and rightly so: half the move depends on school. The good news is that Andorra has an unusual answer: three free public systems, and you choose freely between them.

The Andorran system teaches in Catalan with a strong presence of French, Spanish and English. The French system follows the curriculum of France and opens the door to the French baccalaureate. The Spanish system, with church-run and state schools, follows the curriculum of Spain.

Our view: choose with the long-term path in mind—university in France, in Spain, in another country?—and the languages you want your children to master, rather than the comfort of the first year. Children adapt faster than we do.

Key points

Key points for a calm decision

Andorran system

Catalan as the language of instruction and a multilingual model of its own. The fullest immersion in the life of the country.

French system

French curriculum and a natural progression to lycée and university in France. Highly valued by international families.

Spanish system

Spanish curriculum with state and church-run options. A smooth transition for families arriving from Spain.

Genuinely free

State schooling is free in all three systems, with services such as school transport included.

Languages from an early age

Pupils grow up with Catalan, Spanish, French and English. They leave school with enormous linguistic capital.

On a human scale
