Frequently asked questions
- How long do I have to spend in Andorra?
- Passive residence requires a minimum annual presence, which differs from the one that determines tax residence. The two are often confused: you can be a resident without being a tax resident. On the first call we clarify which of the two you are after.
- Can I work with this residence?
- Not in Andorra. It is residence without gainful activity: if you keep a professional activity, it has to be outside the country. If you want to operate from here, there is a different route and we will point you to it.
- Have the amounts required by law changed?
- Yes. Llei 2/2026 raised the minimum investment and turned the former deposit into a non-refundable payment to the AFA. We don’t publish the figures on the website: we give you the current ones on the day we review your case.
- Can I own an Andorran company with this residence?
- You can be a shareholder, but you cannot carry out any activity in it. As soon as there is actual work, the correct route is active residence, and it costs far less to sort this out beforehand than to correct it afterwards.
