Andorra · Residence

Your residence in Andorra, route by route with no shortcuts.

Active, passive, self-employed or employed, digital nomad, family reunification: each profile has its route and each route its requirements. Choosing the right way in is half the process.

The wrong route costs months. The right one is chosen at the start.

Every year we handle dozens of residence applications and the pattern repeats itself: those who start down the wrong route lose time, money and sometimes their window of opportunity. The choice depends on your activity, your assets and your life plans — in that order.

The active routes (self-employed or employed) are for those who come here to work and pay CASS contributions. The passive routes are for those who live off income, invest or provide services abroad, with a required minimum presence. And there are specific routes: digital nomad, profiles of scientific, cultural or sporting interest, and family reunification.

Important in 2026: immigration and investment rules have been overhauled and the financial requirements for the passive routes have gone up. Always work from the rules in force, not from what a blog published two years ago.

Key points

The routes, in brief

The Andorra hub summarises the types; here is how to choose between families of routes.

Active, self-employed

You set up your company or practise as a professional here. Residence and business are set up together, in a single coordinated process.

Active, employed

You come with a contract from an Andorran company. The company drives the application and you provide your personal documents.

Passive (no gainful activity)

You live off income or your assets and invest in the country. It requires proven financial means and a minimum presence.

Passive with international reach

Your Andorran company provides services outside the country. The usual route for consultants and digital profiles with a global client base.

Digital nomads and profiles of interest

Specific routes for international remote workers and for recognised scientific, cultural or sporting talent.

Family reunification

Your family settles here with you. We prepare it alongside the main application so the timings fit.

Step by step

How the process works, from decision to permit

  1. Route assessment

We look at your activity, your income and your timeline, and tell you which route fits and what requirements you will need to prove.

  2. Preparing the application

Apostilled personal documents, criminal record checks, proof of financial means and, where applicable, the business plan. We review every item before submitting.

  3. Submission to Immigració

We submit the application, track its status and respond to any requests. You don't chase anyone: we keep you posted on every step.

  4. Permit and settling in

Medical check, signature and permit. And we stay with you: housing, vehicle registration, schooling and the practicalities of the first few weeks.

  5. Renewals

The permit is renewed for progressively longer periods. We keep track of the calendar so no renewal catches you late.
