Importing under the resident regime
Your personal vehicle can be imported on favourable terms if you can prove how long you have owned it and you are arriving as a new resident.

Bringing your car, registering it with Andorran plates and exchanging your driving licence: three procedures, each with its deadlines and correct order. We walk you through the process so you only do it once.
In a country of valleys, a car is no luxury: it is your everyday tool. And because Andorra has its own customs and vehicle registry, your current vehicle has to go through its own process before it can be driven on Andorran plates.
The good news: here too, moving your residence comes with a favourable regime. If you have owned the vehicle for some time and bring it with you when you settle, you can import it on advantageous terms, provided you meet the requirements and deadlines.
Order matters: residence first, technical inspection next, registration last. In parallel, the exchange of your driving licence, which has its own time window. Done in order, it is a short process; done the other way round, it stalls.
Key points
Your personal vehicle can be imported on favourable terms if you can prove how long you have owned it and you are arriving as a new resident.
Before registration, the vehicle undergoes a type-approval inspection with its original documentation and certificate of conformity.
Once it passes the inspection, any applicable import taxes are paid and the vehicle receives Andorran plates.
New residents exchange their foreign licence for an Andorran one within a set period. Don’t leave it until last.
A vehicle registered here is insured with an Andorran policy; you will already need it for the technical inspection.
