Frequently asked questions
- Can a family member come too?
- The application is individual and tied to the admission. If family members also wish to reside, we look at their own route in parallel.
- What happens if I change care home?
- Your residence is linked to the admission, so the change must be notified and documented. Let us know before you formalise it, not after.
- Can the process be handled from outside Andorra?
- The preparation can. Admission to the care home and some formalities require you to be present or represented, and we arrange things so it can all be done in a single trip.
- Who decides, the care home or the Govern?
- Both, in this order: first the care home accepts the admission, then the Govern decides on residence on that basis. That is why the process cannot start until the place is confirmed in writing.
- Does it give access to the public healthcare system?
- Not automatically. You need private insurance with cover in Andorra, and it is a requirement of the application, not a recommendation. We check it before submitting anything.
